Alchemy

You turn me at a corner,
My naked eyes enter you,
Immensity like nightfall.

I want to drown in it.
I want to paint the world.
I want thirst to rain from my fingertips.
I lust for magic,
Autumn afternoons,
Slow-roasted suppers,
Long, hazy love.

My love,
I crave the beauty of every life
On every branch
Of every street
Inhabiting every irreplaceable name
That ceases on the honey of your lips.

You speak me into being.
You come into my bed,
Spill into my blood.
You erase me,
My kisses turn to gold.
