Metamorphosis, paper collage, 2022
My collage practice, as you may already know, is my sanctuary. It is where I go to relax, to play, to immerse myself in surreal, fantastical worlds.
But, every once in awhile, I end up creating a collage that inexplicably causes me anxiety. I like it; I don’t like it. It’s finished; it’s not finished. It’s too much; it’s not enough.
Metamorphosis is definitely one of those collages. I created it for a renaissance-themed exhibition, hence the use of Raphael’s Madonna del Prato. I’ll let you know if she’s accepted. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy her…hopefully without anxiety.
Also, I have some exciting news! I closed my Etsy shop and opened a new store using Shopify. There is a permanent link to the new shop in the header on this site, and those of you who follow me on Instagram will probably start seeing product links appear in my profile soon.

This is so fun! With many things going on, this would make an interesting visual story prompt. Congrats on the progress with your business. I need to visit and find that cactus collage.

I’m happy you like it! And yes, the move away from Etsy, I think, is the right one for me. The cactus piece is not yet in the shop (I’m testing the store out with a limited print run), but you can email or DM me on Instagram anytime…and thank you for the positive feedback on this one. It was giving me angst. 😊

I’m drawn to the yellow jewel at the center..with all that is going on in the collage’, it creates an anchor for my eye which allows me to take in everything else. It’s a lot and just enough :)..well done

Thank you, my friend. My eye goes to the yellow jewel first, as well. I’m glad you like this piece…and that you feel it’s just enough ☺️

Love the dimensions of this collage and its many interwoven elements! The zebra legs are so surprising, yet they work well too. 🙂
