The Truth Is Silent, But Beautiful, paper collage, 2022
I had hoped to write a short, cohesive essay along with this post, but I’m afraid my thoughts aren’t quite organized enough for that yet. The topic: self-transcendence. What it means to perceive the everyday in the context of eternity. This is in response to Maslow’s essay, “Theory Z,” which I read this morning and which I am still contemplating.
Anyway, as you’ll see from all of the artwork below, I’ve been quite busy creating over the past few days. I made all of these collages within a two-day span (Monday and Tuesday) and decided to post them all together as there is, perhaps, some continuity among these pieces (or perhaps not).
Please enjoy.

Adrift and The Boat are my favorites. What imaginative and surreal worlds you create!

Thank you very much, Bob! Adrift is one of my favorites, too. All of these were great fun to make…it is most gratifying when I walk away with the sense that each of these scenes articulates an aspect of my inner life, that they are all somehow part of a larger inner landscape.

It somehow adds up. And there’s a mystery to that.

Yeah, I think so. It’s kind of the same with poetry: the mystery is what makes it seem meaningful.

I haven’t forgotten about the other. I am thinking about spaces – you have given me more to think about, which is wonderful!
