Elixir, paper collage, 2022
i’m in the mood for roots
wind in water
the dust across my tongue
we touch hands
we make footprints
we recognize
an autumn leaf like an outstretched hand
seems to say, fly high with the foxes
oh, but honey, the phoenix is face down
the wine is half-empty
your lover is dressed in expensive clothes
and you, firm in your fists
like slow-moving water
the orchards are swelling
these apples are so hard to hold onto

Great writing..I love when you pen words that leave me pondering numerous things at one time 🙂 “oh, but honey, the phoenix is face down the wine is half-empty your lover is dressed in expensive clothes”, great stanza..challenges perspectives and thoughts that we cling so tightly to..well done..again 🙂
