Tender Leaves

things take shape in us suddenly
and let us go just as suddenly

these days of tender leaves remind us
the doves, too, racing like comets across the sky
as if to say, there is no miracle
other than this

and as for you
do you have the grace to let go
of that which has let go of you?

do you walk as wildflowers,
skipping over cracks in the pavement as you go?
do you grab onto the lighting
with both hands?
do you stir the soup clockwise and
greet the trees and walk lightly
over the small things?

never forgetting that
out of the dust
you, too, rise

  2. This feels like being reminded how soft impermanence can be; not tragic, but tender. β€œDo you have the grace to let go of that which has let go of you” really stays with me. Beautifully written! πŸ’•

  3. I love this poem :)..you develop the grace of letting go beautifully with lightning and soup and small things :)…expressing our fragility and also our inner voice that leads us exactly where we need to be..skipping on pavement or treading the path in a forest..all asking us to follow and yes, sometimes stop, and watch the bird or find a different trail that calls to us..really lovely, my friend. πŸ™‚

    1. Aww thanks, Janna! 😊 Your comment on The Woman of the Fallen Leaves actually got me thinking about letting go in terms of grace, strength, resilience, and even tenderness. I’m happy you enjoyed the poem. Thank you, my friend! 😊
